The NDIA is the National Disability Insurance Agency, which oversees the NDIS which is the National Disability Insurance Scheme .

Background

As Australia’s first national scheme for people with disability, the NDIS provides funding to support people, families and carers. The NDIS helps people with disability to take part in everyday activities.

About 4.3 million Australians live with disability. You can find out if you’re eligible for support here.  Eventually by 2020, the NDIS is expected to provide funding to about 460,000 Australians aged under 65.

Yes, if you’re not happy with your disability service provider, you can change to get the support you need to make the most of you!

When and why was the NDIS started?
In July 2013, the NDIS was started by the government to give people with disability a fair go. Until then, people with disability were all getting different levels of support. Now, you can get the support you need, based on your own unique situation.
